Deterministic Seismic Inversion for Quantitative Reservoir Characterization

January 20-21, 2027

Course Overview

Seismic data is band-limited and relative, while reservoir decisions require absolute properties. This course covers the full deterministic inversion workflow, from rock physics feasibility, well ties, wavelets and low-frequency models through post-stack and pre-stack simultaneous inversion.

What you will gain

  • The ability to deliver absolute P-impedance, S-impedance and density volumes from seismic
  • Mastery of the steps that most control result quality: well ties, wavelet estimation and low-frequency modelling
  • Up-front feasibility analysis to confirm the target is detectable before investing time in inversion
  • Strong QC skills, including evaluating inversions received from contractors or colleagues
  • Interpretation of inversion outputs in terms of lithology, porosity, fluids and net pay
