Well to Seismic Ties and Wavelet Estimation in HampsonRussell
13 May 2026
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the course participants will understand how to efficiently estimate wavelets and create well-to-seismic ties using HampsonRussell and Petrel integration.
Content:
This course explains seismic gather conditioning techniques essential for Quantitative Interpretation (QI) studies.
This course emphasizes how to establish accurate time-depth relationships at wells, estimate wavelets and leverage the data link between HampsonRussell and Petrel. Complemented by hands-on exercise to experience well-tie workflow.
- Overview of HampsonRussell interface and data structure
- Petrel Plugin Overview
- Theory of well to seismic tie analysis
-
Well to seismic tie:
• Import check shot data
• Time-depth relation with check shot
• Extract statistical wavelet from seismic
• Edit Time-depth and QC
• Extract wavelets using well logs
