GeoSoftware Announces Release of PowerLog 2025.1 with Advanced Geophysical Capabilities

Written by GeoSoftware | 10/1/2025

October 1, 2025—GeoSoftware™, the trusted global partner providing geoscience software and consulting services for enhanced subsurface knowledge, is pleased to announce the latest release of our industry-leading software, PowerLog 2025.1.

Building on the foundation of the modernized database introduced in PowerLog 2025.0 released in June 2025, this release delivers advanced geophysical capabilities and usability enhancements that enable geoscientists to work faster, integrate data more seamlessly, and generate deeper reservoir insights.

PowerLog 2025.1 introduces a suite of new geophysical tools designed to extend interpretation and modeling workflows. These include time-depth calculations with one-way and two-way time curves and SRD-based adjustments; the ability to compute zero-offset and angle-dependent synthetic seismograms using Zoeppritz equations and Ricker wavelets; and support for Backus averaging and rock physics workflows. Seismograms can now be displayed directly in Logplot with flexible visualization options, including line, wiggle, and color wiggle modes. Users can also interactively generate AVA/AVO plots from seismogram events and perform scenario modeling to simulate lithology, compaction, or fluid changes and assess their impact on seismic response.

The release also includes usability, database, and display improvements that streamline petrophysical workflows. Users will benefit from smoother depth handling, more consistent plotting behavior, and more responsive database management across projects.

Together with the major backend upgrade introduced in PowerLog 2025.0—which delivered faster performance, cloud-ready architecture, improved collaboration, and enhanced stability—PowerLog 2025.1 provides users with a powerful, modernized platform to support long-term productivity and innovation.
